BARABAI (TABIRKota) – Regent of Hulu Sungai Tengah (HST), H Aulia Oktafiandi delivered a message to the HST communities to never hesitate in giving out some of their assets through infaq (a type of charity) and shadaqah (alms).
This message was conveyed by Regent Aulia after the Eid al-Fitr 1444 Hijri prayer at Dwi Warna Square, Barabai, Saturday (April 22, 2023).
He said the holy month of Ramadan had been a time when faith and piety were enhanced, and Muslims guarded against dishonorable behavior.
“That’s why, even though the month of Ramadan has passed, the spirit and soul contained in the holy month should be maintained within each of us. We increase our concern for others, including through infaq and shadaqah,” he said.
Eid Al-Fitr, Regent Aulia said, provides an opportunity for Muslims to cleanse their hearts and restore awareness of nature as humans, and to carry a noble message through the silaturahmi (strengthen friendly relations) tradition.
“We maintain the spirit of silaturahmi. Let’s not tarnish the sanctity of Eid al-Fitr with actions that can disrupt harmony and conduciveness in HST,” he added.
The HST community is expected to be able to appreciate the meaning of fasting in the month of Ramadan and develop a strong spirit of self-control in everyday life. (ra/ferian sadikin)
