JAKARTA (TABIRkota) – Coal mining company owned by entrepreneur Garibaldi “Boy” Tohir PT Adaro Energy Indonesia Tbk (ADRO) announced its operational performance for 2022, Friday.
During that period, the company which runs its mining activities in Tabalong and Balangan Regencies, South Kalimantan breaks the record with coal production of 62.88 million tons, an increase of 19 percent compared to production in 2021 which amounted to 52.7 million tons.
This achievement at the same time exceeds the guideline which is set at 58 to 60 million tonnes in 2022.
“Increased production in 2022 was triggered by high demand for coal as well as the company’s good operational performance,” Adaro Energy Indonesia Tbk Corporate Secretary, Mahardika Putranto said in an official statement, Friday.
In terms of coal sales volume throughout 2022, 61.34 million tons were recorded, increased 19 percent from 51.58 million tons in 2021.
The sales growth was mainly driven by medium CV thermal coal production (4,700 and above), which increased by 22 percent to 44.91 million tons in 2022, compared to production in 2021 which was 36.77 million tons.
Medium CV thermal coal products account for 73 percent of total sales by 2022.
Metallurgical coal sales of PT Adaro Minerals Indonesia, Tbk (ADMR) also increased by 39 percent to 3.20 million tons in 2022, from 2.30 million tons in 2021.
The volume of overburden removal in 2022 reached 235.68 million bank cubic meters (Mbcm), or an increase of eight percent from 218.90 Mbcm in 2021.
The growth was driven by an increase in overburden stripping volume by Balangan Coal Companies (BCC), PT Mustika Indah Permai (MIP), and PT Adaro Minerals Indonesia Tbk.
Meanwhile, overburden removal at PT Adaro Indonesia (AI) decreased by one percent to 191.83 Mbcm from 194.37 Mbcm in 2021.
ADRO’s strip ratio in 2022 was recorded at 3.75x, or decreased from 4.15x in 2021, because the production volume grew compared to the increase in overburden stripping volume.
Adaro’s strip ratio performance in 2022 unfortunately didn’t reach the set guide of 4.1x, due to the frequency of rains that exceeded normal in the first half of 2022, and the longer delivery time for heavy equipment.
“Nevertheless, the company remains in line with the life-of-mine strip ratio,” Mahardika Putranto said.(sah)
