TANAH LAUT (TABIRkota) – Muslims around the world are rejoicing in welcoming Eid Al-Fitr on Sunday (May 1st, 2022) evening.
However, for the crews of “Anugerah Lautan 09” barge, the excitement suddenly turned into disaster.
The barge carrying a bulldozer suddenly fell and sank in the Taboneo or Tabanio sea, in Tanah Laut Regency, South Kalimantan.
It was not only the bulldozer that fell into the sea, but also the bulldozer operator named Matius Ili.
Al Amrad, Head of Banjarmasin SAR (Search and Rescue) Office, said that the incident was happened on Sunday evening at around 7.30 pm.
“It is suspected that it was caused by the barge’s right sideboard that is already porous. That part has been corroded,” Al Amrad told TabirKota.
Personnel of Banjarmasin SAR Office, together with South Kalimantan’s Polairud (Water and Air Police), Taboneo Port Control employees, and crew members of the Anugrah Lautan 09, then immediately carry out search efforts.
Banjarmasin SAR office itself deploys the KN 407 rescue boat with three crew members.
The team is also equipped with three sets of diving equipment, an AquaEye detector and several other SAR devices.
The search for bulldozer operator Matius Ili is carried out by referring to the data and patterns obtained through the SARMAP (Search and Rescue Model and Response System) application.
SARMAP is a search and rescue model system that provides rapid predictions of the movement of drifting objects and missing persons at sea.
Search efforts are still ongoing until today, Tuesday (May 3rd, 2022) at Taboneo sea for bulldozer operator Matius Ili who reportedly fell overboard from the vessel on Sunday evening.(ra)
