MARTAPURA (TABIRkota) – 55-year-old man named Riduan presumed drowned while fishing in Martapura River of West Martapura, Banjar Regency, Saturday (March 26, 2022).
In response to the incident, Search and Rescue (SAR) Office of Banjarmasin immediately dispatched a team of six personnels.
Head of Banjarmasin SAR Office, Al Amrad, said the report was received at around 12:10 pm.
Together with Banjar Regency BPBD (Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency) and other rescue organizations, Banjarmasin SAR Team then carried out a search around the scene.
An eyewitness said that residents saw Riduan catching fish in Martapura River by riding a boat.
But moments later, Riduan was nowhere to be seen on his boat.
Residents panicked, because the boat continued to spin uncontrollably.
During the search process, SAR personnels faced difficulties due to the large number of water hyacinth plants in Martapura River.
The team used a tool called AquaEye to detect Riduan’s body in the river.
The SAR team is hitherto still searching for Riduan’s whereabouts.(ra)
