IBNU Sina is Mayor of Banjarmasin for the periods of 2016-2021 and 2021-2024.
He has a vision to realize Banjarmasin as a city with BAIMAN (Pious, Safe, Beautiful, Advanced, Trustworthy and Comfortable) principles.
He wants to perfect that vision in his second term in office.
During his tenure as mayor, Ibnu Sina and Banjarmasin administration have received a number of awards related to their success in promoting Banjarmasin as a smart city.
Ibnu Sina was born in Puruk Cahu of Murung Raya Regency, Central Kalimantan, on January 4, 1975.
He finished elementary and junior secondary schools in his hometown.
He then continued his education at SMAN (State-owned Senior Secondary School) 2 of Banjarmasin.
In 1998, Ibnu Sina completed his undergraduate education at the Faculty of Fisheries of Lambung Mangkurat University.
He earned his master’s degree from the MSAP (Master of Development Administration Science) graduate program at the same university in 2011.
Husband of dr Siti Wasilah and father of four children, started his career as a tutor at a tutoring institution called SOEFL in Banjarbaru (1998), and as a teacher at Miftahul Khairiyah Islamic Boarding School in 1999.
He also used to work as a journalist at “Basis Ummat” Tabloid in 2000.
In 2004, Ibnu Sina decided to enter politics by becoming a member of the DPRD (Provincial Legislative Council) of South Kalimantan.
He was elected as a legislator through three consecutive general elections (2004, 2009 and 2014) before winning the 2016 Banjarmasin mayoral election. (sahrudin)
