
BANJARBARU (TABIRkota) – Approximately 20 individuals with disabilities, mostly teenagers, from 13 districts in South Kalimantan, join in a training program at the RSPD (Social Rehabilitation Center for Persons with Disabilities) of “Iskaya Banaran” in Banjarbaru.
The program, which is organized by the South Kalimantan Social Services Agency, focuses on fashion, automotive and computer programming.
The participants consist of individuals with physical disability, sensory disability, hearing and speech impairment, and intellectual disability.
Head of the South Kalimantan Social Services Agency, Siti Nuriyani said, the training has been started this January, and is planned to last until June 2022.
The program objective is to allow persons with disabilities to obtain meaningful experience, and to encourage self-sufficiency and independence among them.
“It is part of our responsibilities to support them become self-reliant, and subsequently able to contribute to their communities”, she explained, yesterday.
The instructors of the training program come from the South Kalimantan Social Services Agency, the South Kalimantan Vocational Training Center (BLK), Ministry of Religious Affairs, and the 1007/Banjarmasin Military District Command (Kodim). (sahrudin)
