TANJUNG (TABIRkota) – Coal mining company PT Adaro Indonesia through its nonprofit Yayasan Adaro Bangun Negeri (Adaro Builds the Nation Foundation) organizes a four-month educational project called “Program Adaro Santri Sejahtera” (PASS).

The annual program, which has been carried out since 2018, is designed to empower the santri (students of Islamic Boarding School or pondok pesantren) by encouraging entrepreneurial spirit among them.

Yayasan Adaro Bangun Negeri, as in previous years, teams up with Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) in carrying out the program.

This year’s PASS involves five Islamic boarding schools in four regencies (Tabalong, Balangan, Hulu Sungai Utara and Hulu Sungai Tengah), with the theme “Bersama menuju Pondok Pesantren Mandiri, Ustadz Hebat, Santri Sukses, Bahagia Dunia Akhirat” (Together towards Independent Islamic Boarding Schools, Great Teachers, Successful Students, and Happy in this World and the Hereafter).

Through this program, Adaro and ULM give theories and practices on agricultural entrepreneurship (fish and poultry farmings, and crop farming) to the students and teachers.

Deri Anggraeni, Section Head of Yayasan Adaro Bangun Negeri, expressed his gratitude to the local governments for their supports on the implementation of the program.

Head of ULM’s Institute for Research and Community Service, Prof Danang Biyatmoko, said, PASS becomes an opportunity for both lecturers and students to implement the so-called “Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi” (three missions of universities), in which a university should serve as a world of education, research and public services, and become a pillar for the development of people.

ULM sends 22 lecturers and 170 students during this year’s PASS.

Caretaker Secretary of the Government of Tabalong Regency, Rahmadi Amir, admitted that the program has greatly helped the government in carrying out the mission of empowering human resources, especially the students of Islamic boarding schools in the district. (sahrudin)
