PT SIS to Provide Working Capital to “Sasirangan” Artisans

TANJUNG (TABIRkota) – “Sasirangan” artisans in Pangelak Village of Upau Subdistrict, Tabalong Regency, to get working capital support from coal mining company PT SIS (Saptaindra Sejati), with a total of Rp 15 million.

Sasirangan is South Kalimantan’s traditional, often colorful fabrics, which is made by dip dyeing methods.

The sasirangan makers who are organized in “Batik Sirang Creative Group”, subsequently use the financial support to buy tools and materials needed for producing sasirangan.

The group, which has 17 members, has been so far able to market their products, not only to different regions in South Kalimantan, but also to other provinces such as Central Kalimantan.

Warsi, leader of Batik Sirang Creative Group, said, the working capital provided by PT SIS makes sasirangan artisans in Pangelak Village to stay productive despite the tough times.

“We were once suffering and unsure of what the next few months hold and if we would be able to bounce back from this pandemic”, Ms Warsi said, recently.

PT SIS’s CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) and External Relations Unit Head of Area 1, Didi Cahyadi, said, sharing any resource, tool or strategy to help SMEs (small and medium enterprises) succeed is part of the company’s social roles and moral responsibility.

“Small businesses are the heart of our economy. They provide us all with everything we need everyday. They employ and sustain many people, and we need them. Luckily, there are things we can do to help them, including this working capital support”, Mr Cahyadi said.

PT SIS, he continued, comes up with ideas of how the company can provide some additional help so that sasirangan makers in Pangelak Village can survive and thrive once this dark cloud moves on. (ant/sahrudin)
