MARTAPURA (TABIRkota) – Belangian Village is part of Aranio Subdistrict, Banjar Regency of South Kalimantan.
The village is situated approximately 35 kilometers in the south east of Martapura, the capital of Banjar Regency.
Beside having ecotourism potentials such as Lembah Kahung waterfall, Belangian Village is also well known as the “Village of Sasirangan”.
Sasirangan is South Kalimantan’s traditional, often colorful fabrics, which is made by dip dyeing methods.
Aunul Khoir, Village Chief of Belangian, said, sasirangan which is made by the village’s artisans having its own unique features, particularly in its natural dyeing technique.
“We use leaves, flowers, and even grains to dye sasirangan fabrics. Recently, our artisans have received training in the use of natural colorants, so they may enrich their arts skills”, he explained. (sah/RA)
