Balangan Coal Group Gives Health Care Equipment to Schools, Public Facilities

PARINGIN (TABIRkota) – In order to support face-to-face teaching and learning activities, Balangan Coal Group (BCG) distributes donations in the forms of health care equipment to primary and secondary schools in Balangan Regency.

The non-cash charitable contributions are also given to public facilities in the one of South Kalimantan’s youngest regencies.

External Relations Division Head of BCG, Thoha, symbolically hands over the donations to Regent of Balangan, Abdul Hadi, at the regency’s Covid-19 Task Force office, Thursday (October 28).

“We realize that students will learn more when they are in-person at school. Therefore, these contributions are particularly aimed at supporting that”, Mr Thoha explains.

The health care equipment will be distributed to eight primary schools and eight junior and senior secondary schools, and six public facilities in Balangan.

The non-cash donations comprise: 12 thousand of three-layer fabric masks, 22 hand wash sinks, 22 packs of 5-liter antibacterial liquid hand soap, 22 health campaign banners, and 14 oxygen tanks and regulators.

Regent Abdul Hadi, on behalf of the people of Balangan, appreciates BCG’s attentiveness in supporting health and education sectors in the regency.

“Schools in other regencies have been carrying out face-to-face teaching and learning activities, and we here just start it for primary and junior secondary schools”, Mr Abdul Hadi utters.

He admits, the number of individuals of Balangan getting their first and second doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, so far, still reaches only 33 percent.

“We set a target to vaccinate at least 70 percent of our population. We hope there will be no significant barriers, and we can achieve the goal”, he says.

Mr Abdul Hadi describes, there are several requirements that must be prepared and met, before starting in-person teaching and learning activities.

“A school has to obtain approvals from Education and Culture Agency, and from the Covid-19 Task Force, and of course, implements health protocols”, he stated. (sah/RA)
